The beautiful and expressive tone of the Bassoon is featured in PPO’s 6th Chamber Music Concert. PPO’s Principal Bassoonist Adolfo Mendoza will display his impeccable bassoon technique in his performance of two pieces that showcase the versatility of this instrument. Listen to its mellow, velvety, and seductive sound in Camille Saint-Saens’ Sonata for Bassoon and Piano in G major, Op.168, and its warm, melodious, and expressive quality in Carl Maria von Weber’s Andante e rondo ongarese, Op.35. The bassoon’s rich tone color is even heightened in these classical duets by the sparkling sound of the piano, to be played by pianist Mary Anne Espina.
