Concert VII – Opera brings the drama, passion, and grandeur of the operatic stage to the concert hall at the Metropolitan Theater. Guest soprano Katerina Mina joins the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra for some of opera’s most powerful and beloved arias: “Pace, pace mio Dio” and the electrifying Overture from La forza del destino by Giuseppe Verdi; “La Mamma Morta” from Andrea Chénier by Umberto Giordano; and “Vissi d’arte” from Tosca by Giacomo Puccini. Expanding the evening’s dramatic sweep are Stephan Hodel’s Angel of Fire and the monumental Ring Symphony, a symphonic synthesis of themes from Der Ring des Nibelungen by Richard Wagner, arranged by Jeffrey Ching.
