Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra 41st Concert Season | Concert VI: Romanza
Concert VI – Romanza continues the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra’s 41st season with an evening of lyricism, virtuosity, and rich orchestral color. At the heart of the program is a rare musical event: the world premiere of Mozart’s unfinished Concerto for Violin and Piano (K. Anh. 56/315f), completed by contemporary composer Jeffrey Ching. This work offers a fresh glimpse into Mozart’s melodic imagination through a vibrant dialogue between violin and piano. The concert also features Wieniawski’s Violin Concerto No. 2 in D minor, a Romantic staple celebrated for its soaring lyricism and technical brilliance, and Ravel’s Daphnis et Chloé Suite No. 2, a lush orchestral masterpiece full of color, rhythm, and sensuality.
Joining the PPO are acclaimed soloists Bartek Nizioł (violin) and Junhee Kim (piano), under the baton of Grzegorz Nowak, in a program that flows from intimate romance to sweeping orchestral splendor.
